Nobody knows at the moment I'm afraid. There is lots of talk about it on the avforum but Sky have not officially released any details yet.

Whenever it is you can be sure the price of the box will drop every 6-8 months and the customer service will be of the usual exceptional level, sorry I meant utter ****e

Any figure in between £250-£500 for the box and an extra £10-£20 a month if you look at the posts on AV-Forums.

Well for me the cable option is NTL who have worse customer service, a poorer digital picture, are more expensive, have fewer channels and no Sky+ alternative.

Even if NTL go HD I'll stay with Sky.

There is no alternative for a lot of areas, and don't SKY know it.

I don't suppose you'd care to explain how anyone else could get a similar deal?

I had Sky back around 1999/2000, but ended up cancelling it due to the terrible customer service. If I wrote down what happened here people wouldn't believe it. Basically it consisted of me taking numerous days off work sitting in waiting for engineers who didn't turn up, or engineers who did turn up but didn't have the right equipment etc..

Now I just have normal TV. I presume eventually that'll be HD?

HDTV looks great from those in-store demo discs, but how much actual broadcast TV will be HD, and when?

I've had a nice big plasma for nearly three years now and still the majotiy of the stuff I watch (Freeview) is below the quality of the TV's potential. The ads are always very good though

Richard.

You really have to be a TV nut to spring out all that extra dough for improved visuals of what is already one of the best in the world.

How do you work that out when most of the USA and Asia are already on HD. We haven't even got 720P yet and the USA and Asia are looking at introducing 1080P.

Cheers
