certificate in financial planning
Anyone done this - Approximately how long does it take to get? I would probably do it in my own time whilst working.
Also how difficult is it? I already have a degree in Electronics but I am thinking of having a career change.
Cheers for any help.

I did the old version of the Cert PFS (FPC) on 1997.
The first few papers are multiple choice, and as long as you have studied course content I believe you will find it straightforward.
Check out the CII website for exam information + details of the course content
www.cii.co.uk
I am taking the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate later this year.
Plan is to be a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) within 2 years.
If you want any more info/help send me a PM.

I did the FP exams a while ago.
If you already have FP3, to be Cert PFS qualified you need to do CF2. If you have more than just the basic FP3 you may not need to do CF2 but I'm not sure.
There are 5 exams to do from the start to be Cert PFS qualified and then futher CF exams for specific areas.
As for the old exams I did 1 and 2 over the space of a few months between exam dates and then 3 I failed the first one and passed the second time.
1 and 2 were fine but as I had no prior advisory experience I found 3 quite hard.
Can't imagine the first 3 being that hard. Got CF2 coming next week and I'll take the exam in April.
