Sikhs allowed to carry daggers to school!!!

This has got to be a bad idea surely?!!! Daggers in school?! No weapons should be allowed at all!!
Ive nothing against sikhs at all btw - all the sikhs ive met have been sound - always a good laugh and up for nights out involving lots of drinking! But just because traditional dress includes a dagger should not mean that gives them the right to go to school with one....

When I was at school years ago we had a Sikh in our class - Sukjit - who carried a small knife. No aggro whatsoever, the agreement with the headmaster I belive was that it didn't come out, simple as that.

Great let's uphold tradition over personal saftey.Well if my kids went to school there I would let them wear traditional costume as well. Davey Crockett hat,buckskins & a 12 inch Bowie knife.Might as well go the whole hog & have a musket as well.The Native Americans can have tomahawks & bows....isn't freedom of choice wonderful.

TBH I don't have an issue with anybody carrying a knife, I do however, have a very big issue if they decide to use it to harm or damage person or property.

I know what your saying and I guess I agree with the point (in this day and age) When I was at school it was more a case of avoiding the wrath of the teachers as there was respect there and you were punished for breaking any of the billion and one rules which usually included whatever you happened to be up to at that point in time.

If your caught carrying a knife, 5 years mandatory

Pah, sikhs with daggers, that's better than all the ******** with guns around here, can go a day without hearing about some shooting around Jane and Finch, and it's such a shock to find that victim and suspect are black. Usual excuse being "he looked at me hard!".
Some innocent girl was killed outside the downtown mall on boxing day because these ignorant gansta's opened fire. The reason? One gang knocked off the hat of someone in another gang. WTF? Shoot the lot of them or close them off in their own ghetto.
*To qualify my use of "******" I shall state that I mean the wannabe or actual youth gansta's with more bling on them that the usual caddy escalde, and not the normal, law abiding, friendly and quite often ashamed to be the same race, black people. I've nothing against those of other races, except when they start acting like fools, which is what the "*******" round here are doing.

oh why, cos he said a naughty word.. get a grip ppl, I lived with a black mate for years (as flatmates ) and he was always saying ******..so chill.
I think marcus's point was about how easy violence kicks off for the smallest of reasons and that having a weapon allowed into school is just not a good idea, whatever the reason. and also that knives/daggers are just the tip of the iceberg.
