Default Quick answer needed re: car door locks and dead batteries

Right, I need to get into a 1991 5 series BMW but the battery is dead and the doors are not unlocking on the keys (no alarm) any ideas how I can get in without breaking windows etc to open th bonnet up?

Cheers

Had this myself on my 7 series last week. Just try flicking the key in the lock bit by bit and it does eventually lift the door pin gradually but slowly. (might take a while) but saves you breaking the glass though. It'll only lift the drivers door but if it's a 5 series, the battery should be under the bonnet (not like my ****** where it's under the back seat and you have to be a contortionist to jump the ****** off from the front seat!) Good luck

You need to carry out the "emergency unlock " procedure!

Unlocking procedure:

1. Insert the master key into the front right door.
2. Pull up the door handle.
3. Turn the key counterclockwise to emergency unlock position .(youll see the door pin rise up)
4. Open the door.(sort the battery!)
5. Close doors and turn the right front door lock to the synchronize position 5.(otherwise the doors wont central lock/unlock )

And we're in....

Couldn't get throug the doors and the rear seat has a full steel panel, so climbing through not an option either.. did manage to get into the boot though.. handy hint coming up....

Battery charger on the contacts of the boot light.. provides enough power to open the doors - hoorah...

Right, just the scoob to sort out now...

See you Monday MrG
