Default Is there a better mobile phone deal than this?

Been checking out mobile phone deals and found that you can get the following deal.....
  • Nokia 6280 Free
  • 600 x-net anytime minutes
  • 400 texts
  • 50 video minutes
  • 50 pictures messages or video messages
  • £5 FREE downloads
  • 25 FREE prints with photobox
12 month contract -: £45 per month, however 10 months half price by redemption.
Total cost over year = £315 or £26 per month

Surely £26 per month for 600 mins and 400 text plus 50 video minutes and 50 picture/video messages cannot be beaten?

Oh yeah..... its on 3

I called o2 to "cancel" and the contract retentions lot offered me the following deal to stay.....

Free Nokia 6280 (whenever it comes out)
400 mins (currently 200 mins)
1000 text (currently 500 text)
£30 a month - 12 month contract

They are literally doubling my mins/text for the same money if I stay with them.

However, o2's costs are a bit more than 3...... 35p vs 25p x-net per minute and 12p vs 10p per text.

Hmmmmm, decisions decisions.

My contract with Orange runs out tomorrow. Will be ringing them for my PAK code (or whatever it's called) so will see what they offer. They did want to charge me 50 quid for an N70. I would be stupid to pay for it, wouldn't I?!

Saw that T-Mobile are giving away a PSP with some phones.

Thought my Orange deal was good

Sony K750i £25 a month but half price for first 6 - 200mins a month + 50 texts.
Wanadoo 2mb broadband for £9.99 a month and the "livebox" upgrade for free.

= phone + broadband for £22.49 a month rising to 39.99 after 6 months.

3 coverage is okay, ive not had a prob in a few years with them. If with your current supplier you cant get a better deal (and your out or nearing the end of the contract) just ask for your PAK. You will probably find that you will then be transferred through to the retensions dept who will be able to offer you the world.

The nokia 6280 is a very good phone by the way, just upgraded mine to it. Only problem is it isnt a smart phone so I cant get tomtom mobile for it. (well I can but it wont work), other than that its the dogs danglies, and on three it is black and silver not just silver.

Clare,

My wife has been fighting with Orange all morning over her contract renewal.

Her deal is up on Friday and she called about a month ago to give the 30 days notice. At the time she was told that if she wanted to upgrade then, she'd be charged £50 for the N70 or W800i. She was then told that if she called back at the expiry of the contract (basically now) they'd do the phone for free and hopefully get a better deal on the tariff.

Today she was told that she'd need to pay £54.99 for an N70, (£50 to upgrage + £4.99 for the handset ) plus remain on her current tariff.
They wouldn't even match the deal they do for new customers (3 months half price) so she told them to cut her phone off on Friday. They then came back and said that she must give 30 days notice from today and wanted another months line rental!

Absolute chancers with no loyalty to current customers.

Talizman,

I have never liked Orange! The only reason I left Vodafone is because fiance is on Orange and it would be cheaper for him to call.

Anyway, looked at 3 online tonight:

Free 6280 or N70
300 inclusive minutes
2000 texts - for 3 months, then 1000
50 video call minutes
100 picture messages - for 3 months, then 50

All for £30 per month for a 12 month contract. Do I go for it or wait a while? My contract is up today!!! Going to cost me at least £50 to upgrade with them for 100 mins + 100 texts, not carried over to next month and £25 a month plus itemised billing £1.

Which is the better phone for a basic user who likes a camera? N70 or 6280. I have a 6230 now and it's fine.

SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!!

3 are a nightmare for customer service,
My handset broke 3 times in 12 months, and the call centre was appalling, appreciate they are in india or whatever, and i've not really an issue with that, but when they don't understand what you are saying??

Just did a Vodafone contract

N70
75 anytime x-network
100 text p/month
"stop the clock" - basically for any call, stay on for more than 3 of your allocated 75 mins, and get the rest of the hour for free you must hang up before the hour, otherwise you get charged for the hour though.

Price?

£16 p/month (18month contract)

Well chuffed

Also had wifey changed over - same tarriff + free D600

Couldn't really beat it for value.

Dan, says the phones aren't free online on the Vodafone website. Did you buy there or through a dealer?

phoned o2 to cancel my contract they gave me 100 xtra mins and 50 texts.
(now 400mins and 100 texts) AND halved my line rental (now £15) and gave me a new sony handset + bluetooth headset
12 month contract, the line rental calls and texts are for life.

phone and speak to somebody in cancellations and you'd be amazed at the deals they can "find". phone to cancel every year it worked for me.
when i used to be with 1 2 1/ t mobile i got my line rental down to under £5 a month, free weekend calls to landlines and 121 phones but ditched it because the coverage near my new house was CRAP. was with them for 6 years though.
only going on my knowledge of o2 or t mobile but the customer services were $h!t hot for both

I'm thinking Orange may not be blackmailed to be honest. When I said I was leaving, they still wanted to charge me £50 for an N70.

Is the 6280 any good?
