Default Best place to sell a car?

Just checked out Autotraders rates and they are a bit pricy and do regional rather than National editions. Considering selling my RS4 so being a bit specialist national coverage would be best.

I had a Range Rover which I put in Exchange & Mart once with zero response in a month 'in till its sold' deal. E-Bay sold it in 4 days. Not sure if E Bay is right for this car though - and it might well take more than a week to sell. I took a month to buy it after all! E&M want a whopping £76 too.

Anyone any experience of Top Marques?

When looking for cars I only ever use online - is there value in print do you think?

Cheers for any other opinions.

I'd try ebay first. Quick and easy, you always have the reserve there so you've only got the listing fee to lose!

Top Marques is quite good as the car will be advertised on autotrader.co.uk and topmarques.co.uk too. As it's a fairly specialist car, a serious buyer would more likely look in Top Marques IMO.

You can always try eBay, depending on fees, with free re-listing if it doesn't go.......

Selling nice cars is a pain in the @rse I find!!

Another vote for Top Marques, on the whole people that read/surf it are in the market for these sort of cars, not just dreaming (although some, like myself do )
Try ebay first though, to test the market or possibly get a surprise sale.

It is worth getting online and in print. Most people do tend to look on the net first but i used to find myself reading the trader cover to cover on a sunday, which often lead to me wanting to buy a new car which could have been yours!

Good luck with the sale

A RS4 isn't your average Focus/Astra so I would say Autotrader isn't your best.

Ebay will only achieve a trade in price.

I would stick with Top Marques, www.rs246.com and pistonheads

Depending on the value of the car, you could try the Sunday Times too.

Good shout for the RS4 owners clubs websites above!

Thanks chaps - grateful for the advice. I actually have it on Pistonheads as I wanted a quick sale to get the great deal on the replacement car i'd found. Alas it didnt happen in time and I lost that car. My RS4 now looks too cheap compared to everything else and my motivation for shifting it quick is gone. It is a beautiful car with £5k of quality mods in great condition after all.

No big shakes if it doesnt sell in 3 months - it's hardly a burden and I'm not putting any significant miles on it now - but I might try Toip Marques now given your feeedback.

Cheers

D

The online version of autotrader (which everyone uses anyway as they are up to date unlike the printed versions) allows you to search nationally.
