147 is alot harder IMO but why start a thread about it being a waste of time and give aload of sleeping smiles?

The guy has issues

Depends on who you ask.

A professional snooker player who can't throw **** will say that the 9 dart finish is harder. and vice-versa.

Only in passing, as with snooker, with the recent Dart championships on TV how many 9 dart finishes were there?

As many as there were 147 breaks in the Masters.

Still, they're both great sports

Sport can be defined as

institutionalised, competitive activities that involve vigorous exertion or the use of realtively comlplex physical skills by individuals whose participation is motivated by a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic factors.

Darts is referred to in the Media as a sport, but due to the lack of physical effort places it further down the "sports continuum", same with snooker.

How about Ballroom Dancing?

A 147 takes 37 perfect shots. A 9 dart only takes 9. If you got a billion monkeys playing darts and snooker the probability is that they would get a9 dart finish before they get a 147.

Can't compare.

Both are quite outstanding when achieved.

However, it is "easier" to pot a snooker ball than it is to throw a dart into a bed the size of a treble. Proof of this???? People pot a ball more often than they hit a treble 20.

However, in snooker the positional play comes into it.....

Yep - as said, non comparable.

Can really be exhausting walking up to the dart board to pull out those arrows and walk all the way back, and drink at the same time

I'd say 9 darter.....just

Snooker players hit 147's in practice fairly often apparently, dont think this is the case for the 9 darter.

never seen it done, personally I have hit two 180's in a row in a competetive game but muffed up the finish

Got to be a 147, you need luck on splitting the reds also need to move the white around the table and remember which order to pot the colours.

9 darter you need to repeat the same throw 7 times ie hit treble 20 or 19, then complete 2 different numbers. I could do that no worries, but I cant afford the beer to practise, or new trousers with a 54inch waist

147 requires a much broader set of skills, it's not just the potting, it's the positioning and also some luck. Throwing a dart is throwing a dart.

Agree though that both are great displays of skill.

Neither Snooker nor Darts are sports. I'd define a non-sport activity as something you could comfortably partake in wearing your everyday shoes.
