It depends,
local or general anaesthetic?
I had a general,
was ok for the first day, a bit tender, and sore, but ok.
on painkillers for a couple of days, then it went through the rainbow effect.
had it done on the wednesday, off untill the monday (no driving allowed)!!
walked like john wayne for a few days once back at work, then it all settled down.

No probs at all. No swelling, no bruising, no pain at all.
In and out in 30 mins, that included pre-op consultation, the op itself and tea and bicuits afterwards.
Go for it.

best tip from me would be to not do your own 'shave' on the hope you might get some nice female nursey do it for you
Worst bit was in the waiting room - all guys in there waiting their turn to go down, bit like waiting to go to the firing squad, all feeling very nervous and the nurses cracking jokes etc

Had it done mid December (merry christmas...). In and out within the hour, next day off work, then back to normal. Few weeks before any gymnastic activities were tried though.
Roll on the next few months when I can get the yogurt pots sent off to confirm If I'm unleaded yet

No problem, I just though, whats worse, another child or the snip, was booked in within a week !
Best bit was going to take my freshly produced sample in, you do three I think it was to make sure its clear, the lady asked me if this was my first one and I replied,
' Nah, been at it years'
It is embarrising being asked about whether your samples are clear by your mum, teenage style embarrasment and mumbling at 31.

I've been done, dad drove me & wife down, premed, local, snip (while wife watched, trainee nurse at the time ) drove home on cloud nine until premed wore off, then felt like someone kicking me in bollocks for 2 days. Back to work next day with baggy pants and undies on
Went out cycling too soon after op though, back in the day I was keen, and it was summer. Caused some complications which have since been sorted.
Bloke at work had snip one afternoon, back driving the next day! trooper
Highly recommend, as there is no way I'm "bagging it"
chris.

GOLD STAR to any man who undergoes this. The alternatives for a woman are either far too intrusive or at the worst can be life-threatening thru' drugs etc. Not to mention the havoc the hormones can go thru'. I am eternally grateful to my men for making the choice.

Had it done under a local anaethetic. Pretty unpleasant injection into the *********, then lots of uncomfortable rummaging around, then he wafts a piece of tubing in front of my face. I'm thinking "Thank god that's over" and he says ...
...."Now the other side".
Very bruised and tender for several days afterwards, but no real problems so long as you wear tight undies.

you could consider the veterinarian non intrusive method
wind cheese wire round the top of your ball bag - leave if for 10 days it will go black and fall off - zero chance of infection

Just ask your friend what he'd do if (god forbid) his missus pegs it, and he wants to start a family with another woman. This is what dissuaded me from having it done despite intense pressure from my other half. Women can have an implant fitted which lasts years now, so there's no real need to take a scalpel to the vas deferens.

I had the "what if I peg it" conversation with my wife, but I have to say if my wife did "slip off the dish" I wouldn't want to have any more kids. I have 3 gorgeous little girls (well most of the time!) 5,6 & 8. and I've done the sleepless nights & nappies thing. Im 42 and by the time the littlest leaves home in say 15 years I'll be 57. I don't want to then be going through the whole thing all over again.
If the worst did happen and I did meet someone else I would make it very clear from the start that I have done the kids thing and if they did want them that would be the end of the relationship.
Having had it done, and having managed to put it off for a few years, I must say that it was a walk in the park (only possible complication was that they wanted to give me another procedure which gave me a bit of a fright!!!)
Had it done on a Wednesday and was driving on the Thursday afternoon and cycling on the following Monday.
If I had to have it done again, I would be more worried about having a filling done at the dentists, you can always bottle some up and keep it in the freezer if you think you might need it in the future
