Urgent Locking wheel nut prob.
A mate of mine has just good a good deal on an Astra turbo, only trouble is, it didnt come with much in the way of history, only one key and no locking wheel nut key.
Trouble is, one of the rear tyres is going flat, so we are after suggestions as to how to sort it.
I have sent him out with his digital camera to take a photo of the nut and I will post it, its a sort of six pointed star arrangement.
So any suggestions would be very gratefully received !

While they are not impossible to get round by any means, they are designed to stop your average scally with a standard wheel brace. If you have access to a workshop you can probably fashion something that will make enough points of contact to allow you to get it loose.

get a socket that is just ever so slightly smaller than the the locking wheel nut...preferably impact, with this type of of grip/drive, i.e, the splined type as opposed to hex.
**** it onto the rougue wheelnut with a hammer

Halfrauds sell a tool to take them off. Its lots of little spikes, thus can fit into most gaps and shapes.
OR contact the suppliers eg Macgaurd im sure they have a master nut or something.

I had this problem ages ago, only I'd completely forgotten I had locking nuts.
Took it to a local backstreet tyre fitter and they did all 4 wheels and put the locking nuts back on without ever saying a word about it or asking for the key. I didn't even realise until I inspected the work afterwards.
I then just got 4 nuts from a scrap yard and bunged them a fiver to swap them over.

Take it to a garage !
Seriously, the cost of buying the tool yourself plus the hours of faffing about - you'd be much better off paying them an hours labour and putting a new set of locking nuts on.
