not sure what your trying to say?

You shouldnt charge vat on your final price unless your vat registered???

or do you mean that there is vat included in the commision price you pay? same as the vat that would be included in the newspaper ad.autotrader ad etc etc

you get charged VAT by ebay on the price the item is sold for in the selling fees applied at the end of each month .

You've bought two things, a watch and an on-line listings service. The price of the watch is subject to VAT and so is the price of the listings service.

Nobody likes paying tax, but I don't see what your particular problem is.

If you sell an item for £29.99 you would pay 5.25% commision to ebay at the end of your billing period which would be £1.57. (plus listing fees) VAT is already included in this charge there is nothing extra to pay.

You definetly dont have to pay VAT on the final price your item sold for? I think you may be misreading your invoice!

The thread title is 'VAT on sales' not 'VAT on sales commission'.

You have to pay tax, it's quite important to keep the country running

No.

You pay a listing fee + You get charged commission on the final auction price. That is the amount you pay Ebay for the service of running the site/infrastructure. You pay VAT on the price charged for those services.

Ebay include VAT in their quoted prices so you dont have to worry about it.

(all on the assumption of course you're genuinely selling second hand goods and not trading via ebay)

From memory if you're VAT registered you can actually pay any fees minus the VAT anyway. ebay won't charge you the VAT component.
