Broken front no. plate..
Recently started a new contract. During 1st week I parked and managed to catch a low level post sticking up from the soil.
These posts normally have white signs on them denoting designated parking bays. This one had no sign on it and as it was black and low level, was invisible to me. I wasn't too happy about this as my number plate looked a mess so I replaced it yesterday. Cost was £16.00. :O
The premises are rented and the HR rep forwarded an email to the landlords on my behalf.
They wrote back acknowledging the problem saying the the posts are a hazard and will soon be removed.
I was only able to get a new plate yesterday as the car was a recent purchase and I didn't have the log book through until last Friday.
So today I brought in the receipt aiming to speak to the landlords. The rep said that the day after the incident 2 engineers were sent over and they looked at my car and concluded that the plate was too high to catch the post!
WTF! I havent parked anywhere near the posts since the incident + my car is a Xantia which dips a bit under braking due to the hydraulic suspension. I do have 1 witness but was hoping it would be more straight forward.
I'd not normally bother but as it was £16 and they recognised the problem I was sure I'd get compensated without any issues.
At the moment I'm waiting for their MD to call. What a waste of time on his behalf! Oh well, we'll see. I won't lose sleep mind!
edited to say that I've just re-read this and sound like a right grumpy old man!

Wurzel, I'm sorry it's not up to standard Sir! I have to type quickly as I sneak most of my posts on during work.
Alcazar, the post was tiny mate, hence me not seeing it. Plus I know all about scrapping Xantias as I binned one last year following a collision.
