Les - if it's the looks/shape/flip/wap you like about the V50 then have a look at the Samsung A300, it looks very similar but is a much better phone IMHO + you get the benefit of seeing who's calling you b4 you answer It's more solidly built than the V50 too

Sal - you can do that with key only answer. I like my v50. I got my wife one as well. Menus are crap to start with, but highly customisable, so you can get them just how you want them

Les, not had one of the latest models, so I can't comment directly.
Last Moto phone I had to use was a Star-Tac. Build quality by Airfix put me off them totally! Been using Nokia's ever since with no problems.
One observation though, when I was working at Motorola earlier this year, more of their training and techie guys had Nokias than had 'own brand' phones, despite most of them being able to have an 'own brand' free of charge! I found that very interesting!
Make of that what you will!

Thanks for the input everyone, I must admit I really like the look of the V50 but I'm very tempted to Stay with a Nokia, Probably a 3310. Interesting that the Motorola guys are using Nokias. One thing that is very important to me is good earpiece volume as I often work in a noisy environment. I suppose there are more important decisions to make in life than which Mobile phone to buy but what a pain in the **** it is when you pick the wrong one.

That OK Sal - I can live with it. Just because you didn't bother to read the instructions...
It also comes with a free carry case which appears to be able to withstand a nuclear blast.
p.s. We did some work with Nokia recently, and a lot of them are carrying...... wait for it.... ericssons. Strange world

Hmmmm.....free carry case - that's something you can't get for the A300 yet
May have to reconsider the V50 now, just when I thought I'd made my mind up too...bu99er
BTW this will be my first non-ericsson purchase

hmm,
afraid I'd have been one of those nokia owning motorola contractors (well up until a couple of months ago ). I battled with Motorola Phones for nearly two year. Not fun!
The V50 is soon to be replaced by new ones (V.66 and more) though so good deals should be available. Samsung A300 is Much better, I have used both, The samsung also has IRDA, which is useful.

Wait a few weeks, the V60 and V66 models will be out soon, apparently the software has been completely re-written.
I've seen a V66 (non working model) and I can't decide whether or not it's an improvement, it looks a bit cheap plasticy (is that a word??), not sure about the button layout either, but it is tri-band. Major downside is cost.
I think I will probably end up with a Seimens S45.
Stuart
Edited cos I can't spell my own name and cos I'll probably actually get a T39
