Anyone been to centre parcs in Longleat? Alternative ideas?
Hi all,
I'm looking for an inexpesive break (long weekend, or just weekend) away with the GF. Would be nice to have somewhere reasonably quiet, but with the option to go out and be entertained. We'd also like to keep things reasonably cheap- there does come a point where these breaks can start costing the kind of amounts whereby you could go abroad, or save up a bit more for a more exotic holiday.
There are some deals on at Centre parcs at the moment, looks nice- I like the whole forest thing- but I've never been. Anyone have any experiences of the place? We'd be looking at the Longleat one.
Alternatively, any other suggestions?
Many thanks.

Longleat is nice but the park is very speadout and hilly and if you are the wrong side it is a hike to the entertainment area. Nice area for day trips though.

It's basically Butlins in the woods. I visited my wifes family who were staying there. If that's what you like it'll be great. For what they paid and got, I thought it was steep.
If it's just you and the missus, why not try and find a cheap B&B somewhere? You're guaranteed a small hotel or B&B would be cheap near the coast / usual summer haunts.
If you're in the Subaru, try derbyshire or the lakes, the roads will be your entertainment.

Centre parcs, is great, but by the time you do something each day it would cost less to go abroad.
Dont get me wrong, I really like the place, been to longleat a few times, but dont go thinking it will be cheap.

There are now too many villas at Longleat IMHO.
They must have increased the capacity by 30% but not increased the facilities... We've been 4 times to Longleat, not sure I'll go back again.
2nd time we had a 1 bed exec apartment, over 2 floors with a sauna on the roof, it snowed, that was nice, right next to the pool/restaurants too which was good.
The older villas are looking quite tired now too.

I went and stayed in the cabins (appartments) near the pool...very nice.
I went jogging throught the forest and ran through, what looked like, a lost world of chavs in old school terrapins. Like a cross between Hi de Hi and Blair Witch.......they were "villas" it seems !!!!!!

Or try a CentreParcs abroad - we went to one in Belgium last year (Erperheide IIRC), great for the family.
Not sure it's a "dirty weekend with the wife" top destination.
