eBay: time for new listing to appear?
I put an item up for auction on eBay about 1 1/2 hours ago and, although I've got the confirmation email with a link to my listing, it still doesn't actually appear in the search results.
eBay say it can take a few minutes for listings to appear, but this seems a bit extreme. Plenty of items have appeared since, it's not as though nothing new is being added to the database.
Does anyone have any idea whether this sort of delay is normal, or whether it's even worth trying to contact eBay about it?

I thought that, but it appears in 'My Ebay' and the email confirmed it should have been listed today at 18:34. It looks as though it's just not been indexed by the search engine
I reckon there's some maintenance going on in the background that's broken the indexing engine... nice of them to tell us, though.
Edit: it just appeared - 4 3/4 hours after submitting the listing!

I list several times a day and it can appear within minutes or sometimes a lot longer.

Make sure your listing doesn't contain any of eBay's banned naughty words. I tried to sell a natural history book called 'British ****' a while ago and while the listing appeared in My eBay it would not appear in a seach. I finally twigged about 4 days into a 7 day listing and had a hell of a job trying to get eBay to give me a refund.
Had to list it as 'British T1ts' in the end

This happened to me. I posted it on here, and everyone thought it was an advert. Anyways, its sold in the end as it appeared in the last hour, but I felt hard done by. Try contacting eBay.

"It should be if you are paying for it to be on but it isn't always the case"
Don't we all have to pay for listings ? (Except for free listing days etc.)

Unfortunately it's not always the case. Over a period of months the amount of 'black hole' time for me would and should add up to a free listing period, but it doesn't.
Of course, the alternative is....................

Looks like it's not just new items being listed that are delayed. I won a DVD on Ebay about 40 minutes ago, and it immediately disappeared from the site - it's not in 'My Ebay' and I can't find it by searching completed items either.
