help! driving to the alps last minute prob with my car
Hi all hopefully there may be some good advice from people on here!
I have got a battered old n reg rover 416si at the moment that cost me the grand sum of £200 now I was supposed to be getting a ferry to France tomorrow morning at 7 and filled it up only to discover it has a leaking fuel tank!!! (hasn't shown before as I have not filled it up!) the rest of the car is running ok, it uses a bit of oil but it has done 100000 miles
Bearing in mind I am supposed to start work on Saturday! what do you recon the best bet is?
A) scrappy fuel tank, my mate is a mechanic and has managed to source one for 40 quid and will fit it cheap for me but I will prob loose the best part of 40 pounds worth of petrol
B) leave it for him to fix and sell it for me whilst I am away and fly out on a sleazy jet flight for about £60 - an easier option but I will be living a bit away from work so a car would be useful to get to work and also to visit other resorts etc
C) stop being such a cheapskate and get a better car - I could prob afford a better car but it will be in the alps for 3 months with all the snow, salt, grit etc. also if i move up from 3rd party only insurance there is usually a limit to how long they will cover you on the continent comprehensively (green card?).
Ideally I would like to get a 4wd legacy but aside from the petrol tank on the Rover it is running ok, and has been prepared for the winter
Any good ideas most welcome!
Thanks all
Andy
