Charley went off to work for Chip Foose
as did Mike AFAIK
Boyd absolutely loaths Foose and was his ex partner in the past.

Boyd Coddington has to be one of the most over-rated, arrogant, opinionated w@nkers I've ever seen. I grew up reading Custom Car magazine in the 70s & 80s and thought a lot of Boyd's stuff back then was really American Hotrod has really opened my eyes to the guy's rank bad attitude
And don't even get me started on that redneck feckwit Dwayne!

As said by others Boyd loathes Chip Fosse, and when Charley leaves to work for Chip, Boyd acts like a child and throws a tantrum, says that Charley is sticking a knife in his back.
Why the hate? Well, long ago Boyd's was going/had gone bankrupt and Chip was brought in to run things, which he did rather well. Then, after a few years, Chip left to startup up his own hotrod company. Boyd was less than thrilled at this point, one assumes he did not want any competition so close to hand, and thus he dislikes Chip. There's probably more to it than that as well.
One does wonder how much of the crap thrown around by Boyd and Dwayne is actually real and how much is just for TV. Boyd, to me, is a *****, ok, he might know a few things about hot rods, but his management and planning skills are absurd. If he is not really like that then I'd be on the phone to the Discovery Channel, as they're making him out to be a *****.
Have to say I prefer American Chopper, you just *know* that Paul Sr and Paul Jr really do go at each other like that.

I love American Hotrod, and these are now repeats. Bluebear was a ***, just like many of his crew. I liked Thomas, thought he was a decent chap, but he's left too.
Boyd is a terrible boss, he expects his crew to work till midnight, then bollocks them for getting in 15 mins late.
Chip Foose is on Overhaul, and to be honest, I prefer the car's he does, than Boyds.
Mind you, Boyds wife would get it, as would the girl on Overhaul.

Mike left because Boyd and Dwayne found out he was working on the sly for Chip - they booted him out and found designs on his work PC for wheels he had been designing for Chip in Boyds time.
Al ( big tache ) also left for a while, then Boyd begged and he came back, but dont know if its permenant.
Thomas ( the Swedish one ) also left to run his own business.
[ can you tell I watched the AH day they had on over Xmas on Discovery ? ]
For a place that is supposedly so prestigious to work for, they do seem to have a problem keeping hold of staff.

Thomas left because he wanted to spend more time with his other business which was importing. He was a good guy.
If you look at who was at boyds when this series first started (junk yard dog ) to the lastest one, most of the team have gone.

Saw this last night for the first time, whilst I am all for people building individual cars.
It seemed a real shame to start with such fantastic donor car, there wasn't a bit of rust on it.

Well done Richiewong for telling the story to those who haven't seen it yet, do you do the soaps as well!.
Its a great programme, forgetting the personalities it is fascinating to see the facilities they have got-spotlessly clean and all the tools you can think of. The work they all do is outstanding too, tremendous skills and pride in what they produce.
I agree it was a shame to chop up the Ford Mdel T though-sacrilege I think!
