Default Driving Ban

Just wondering how long does a ban stay on your licence for? I was banned in Jan 2001, got my licence back a year later. I know I need to let the insurance know for 5 years but is it 5 years after the date i was banned or the date I got my licence back?

Cheers for your help guys

Bans stay on for 5 years from date of conviction unless Drink/Drug Driving (& poss Death By etc) which stay on for 10 years from date of conviction.

You usually tell insurance in relation to the conviction date. (so Jan 2001). Should mean you don't have to declare it to insurance as of next month.

A reminder to all to watch how much they drank the night before they need to drive!

Indeed!! I was pulled over at half 8 in the morning, breathalized and found to be 9mg over the 36mg limit.
