Utterly pointless star rating any threads, it just takes up space on my screen and I have to scroll screen to see post counts on each thread now. Yet another "improvement" no doubt

If you have to scroll just to see the post counts, your resolution must be really low. Can you not up it a little?

Also, I used to view in "classic" mode, this no longer seems to be an option now and am stuck with this (IMHO) inferior format which IIRC didn't rate threads.

The system config window should appear.
click the BOOT.INI tab and make sure that SAFEBOOT is not selected.

I am presuming you have checked that the resolution has not been knocked right down by somebody else who has access to the PC?
