Default Bali...

How dangerous is this place??

Its a potential stop-off point on our way back from Australia, but she's having second thoughts now......

Just need to know if I should be listening to her concerns, or making the point that everywhere can be dangerous if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Cheers,
Grant

Its meant to be a nice place to go, isnt it!?

I was on the same wavelength as davegtt, that it has had its share and it doesnt seem likely that anything will happen in the month that we'd be there.

I wasn't too impressed with Bali, I ended up spending my time on Lombok and the Gilli Isles. It wasn't worth the trip IMO but as a stopover may be nice enough.

The foreign office will know more than scoobynet

They aren't particularly positive, to be fair. Potential kidnapping of westerners, likelyhood of terrorist activity, and the outbreak of bird flu......

Hmmmm, possibly give it a swerve.. Had a look at that link and talked to a Travel Agent that I know and neither are too positive to be honest, they still send people out there, but they do suggest other options.. for the reasons that you mention!!

Try Singapore, Hong Kong or Dubai as a stop mate, each are well worth visiting.
