Default crash diet, i think it's for heart surgery patients

probably totally off track, but i recall playing golf with a guy that was going on about this diet he and his wife were on.

something like as many bannanas as he could eat all day, next day was another fruit, then meat etc and i think it was for fattys who needed heart surgery but needed to get down to a certain weight on the quick?

what i do remember was that he was loosing quite a bit of weight and it was approoved by his doc and the guy was knocking 55 aswell, so seems fairly ok thing to do?

does this ring any bells with anyone as i might look into it myself

approved may have been the wrong word probably more like 'it won't kill you'

Its the cabbage soup diet, and it works because the guff you have to eat for 2 weeks is so horrible, that even healthy salads taste delicious when you're done.

I tried it once, then just ate a balanced diet and cycled a lot and lost 3 stone. The silly diet wasnt brilliant, but like I say the healthy food after the silly diet tasted great so it kickstarted me off.

Best bet is to eat a low fat/carb/sugar diet and exercise lots.

The thing I find, is if you can do a diet like Flightman's and lose the weight really quickly, you are then able to increase what you eat and maintain that weight.

When I've tried diets that you lose 1-2 pounds a week, and it takes ages to lose a stone and a half for example, I've given up because I was p1ssed off with dieting all week for a small reward. Gone back to eating at a level that maintains my weight, but at the higher weight as opposed to the post diet weight - if that makes sense!

Just going to the gym makes a difference. Since August I've been to the gym 5 times a week. Eat relatively healthy but still like the ole steaks and stuff ...and have lost 22kg so far (just over 3 1/2 stone)...and 8 inches of waist size....nearly 10 now. Gym works

It certainly does! A little exercise makes the world of difference.

I lost 5 1/2 stone 4 years ago by just eating less. MUCH less.
I did no additional excercise, and lost weight at a rate of 1 stone per month for about 6 months.
Went from a 40" waist, down to a 31"
An 18 1/2" neck to a 15 1/2
A 6" n0b to a 7"

I believe that dieting is all about your mental attitude and your wish to succeed. I't needs to be a re-education of your long term eating habbits, I'm not at all convinced about specific diets where you do one thing or another for a short time.

Interestingly enough, the reason I went on a diet in the first place was that I didn't fit in the seat of the car I REALLY wanted to buy, which was the Sti. By the time I got round to buying it, the MY02STI had been replaced with the MY03STI and the seats were wider anyway!

I still battle with weight problems, but keep the weight off with a small diet every year after the new year (Half a stone or so)

There's no need to diet in the regime sense of the word, just eat a healthy balanced actual diet, low fat, not too much sugar/carbs and exercise and you will lose weight.

My new regime keeps me to healthy food/fruit on a daily basis, maybe 1 low fat snack a day, and a few pints at the weekend. I've also joined the gym and will go 4 times a week doing an hours CV workout each time.

This should all combine to lose me quite a bit of weight.
