Nokia N70
I'm just after a few thoughts / opinions on this phone from owners on here as I fancy it as my next phone (on upgrade)
Would anyone reccomend it or should I stay away ?
Thanks
Matt

I would say I'm in a pretty good/unbiased position about this phone.
I've been an avid Nokia HATER for the last 6 years. All the previous "specimens" (IMHO) have been -
1. Poor build quality
2. "Fisher Price" - type menu system
3. Cheap and Nasty
Sorry. I migrated to Motorolas, Samsungs (the BEST build quality "feel" I've ever seen) and Siemens ( a few goodies, a few few not-so-goodies!)
I chose my N70 based on the fact there was nothing else out there at the moment (or near future that impressed me, as I've got an IPaq that does everything else) - the D5/600 - great phone, but too toy-like (IMHO), Motorola V3 - AWFUL keypad, SEP990i(?) - looks good, but got a PDA to do all that!!
Hopefully, that sets the scene!!
I LOVE this N70!!!
It's a great phone - really impressed with it. Still getting to grips with the menu system and messenging style.
Camera is really good - the 3G stuff is cool too. The sync'ing between Outlook and the phone is also very comprehensive - I've now got the same address book on PDA, phone and PC
Yes, it isn't as small as other Nokia offerings, but it feels well-built (I'll wait and see if scratches easily) and substantial. I wouldn't say it's "slow", but it's not lightening-quick However, this is probably a firmware thing....
It will be a good investment

i love the N70. easily best phone ive ever had.
do agree with the comments made though, the keypad is kinda tough to use at first, but after a few weeks now im gettin usedto it. once you do, its very nice to text on.
menu system, this is my first symbian phone, so its all somewhat a mystery to me, but the depth of options u get is incredible, i was amazed
all in all... get one, the get N91 when it comes out lol, thats my plan

I have one and think its fantastic phone however I have yet to find an auto key lock option in any of the menus which is really annoying me - Anyone know if it is possible?
I am also getting tomtom5 sat nav for it this week - Just need to get it set up.
They are not that big at all and are not really heavy either.

Thanks for all the replies
Rang O2 up this afternoon - they can upgrade me to the N70 for £99 - not good enough, so I'm gonna ring back tomorrow and threaten to cancel my contract and see what they come up with...

I used to research the best phone on the market, now I can't be bothered and ended up with one of these. It's too big, and a bit too heavy. It also takes ages to switch on. Overall it's not too bad though

I want the N80. Try waiting for this one if you can as its going to have a 3 megapixel camera and its going to be proper wireless to use the internet in WiFi hotspots. Nokia said it will be out between Jan and March. Can't wait

The 'slow' complaint appears to be because of the Orange firmware. There is an upgrade available from Nokia Service Centres and this resets the phone to the standard Nokia N70 settings.

Hi,
The people who want an "auto keypad lock" on your N70's should easily be possible. I have the 6680, running Symbian which I'm sure the N70 is. I downloaded a small, free program application, installed it on the 6680, and hey presto Auto key lock. You can even set a timer for when it comes on. If anyone wants it, I could mail it to you. It's shareware, so no worries about distribution.
