Default Holidays/Employment

We employ someone for 2 days a week. They do a 12 hour shift so 24 hrs per week.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to what holiday entitlement they might be legally due - if any?

Thanks

In particular: http://www.worksmart.org.uk/rights/v...on.php?eny=366

It seems pro-rata based on 4 weeks as a legal minimum for a full time worker

Thumbs up

Thanks guys - that was quick, guess it's soon going home time

2 days = 8 days in my book as in 2/5 of the working week irrelevant of the number of hours worked in a day - but thats my view lol

PTMW, our boss employs that approach with two members of our staff who only work 4 day weeks and it works for him!

At my work we have a huge range of shift lengths.

It seems that the shift length is regardless and days worked per week is all that's taken account of. Makes sense as a 'day' is worth the same amount to the employee on holiday as when worked.

8 days seems fine tbh, they might do long shifts but when they take a day off that 12hours they are having off not just 7.24 or whatever the average is, is you see what I mean.

We've got a woman who does part time, 3 or 4 days a week and supposedly half the hours we do (4 hours a day) and she gets half the hols we do, so on a new employee that's 11.5 days, but as she's been there so long she gets about 13 days.

you should pay him for eight 12 hour shifts - I can't see how anyone can argue with that.
