Default Buying a new watch?

Hi

Wifey wants a new watch & she's looking around online. Can any recommend a good online shop that is genuine & doesn't sell car-boot sale Hong Kong fakes?

www.thewatchhut.co.uk looks ok, but it's hard to trust buying this sort of stuff online.

I would not buy a watch without trying it on first.

Watches that look cool in a shop window, can look crap on your wrist.

^ what he said ^

Fancied a Breitling a few years ago, liked the look etc but when I tried it on it was too big for my skinny wrists, ended up with an Oakley time bomb for everyday use instead.

I would also recommend going to a jewellers. You can at least try it on, see if it suits, see if the weight isn't too much etc. You then get the added benefit of having the links removed etc. to fit.

But by all means use online shops to find styles and makes you like, then look on the makers site for local jewellers who stock them, then head over.

Cheers

Ian

www.blitzwatches.co.uk are ok, find a watch you like and order it online, OR take the price in and see if the retailer will match it, certainly worked for me

I've always been told expect to haggle a 20% discount on brands like Omega in a Jewellers.

Why bother! Time goes quick enough without you actually watching it.

Thanks people

Wifey has already chosen a couple she likes in shops, she just wants to find better prices online.

aatime looks interesting, but her budget is <£120 - the watches on this site are waayyyy more expensive!

Talking

I want this one:

Longines Evidenza L2.155.0.71.6 Retail Price £ 1,510.00

Need to save up I guess

And like Dave said, I've tried it on and it looks good. You need to try them on otherwise it could be all wrong.

ebay is good for watches.

I just bought a Seiko Sportura from an Ebay shop, £130 less than Ernest Jones/high street, next day delivery and looks superb. They are imports I think, but all new and warrented - the shop had 4300 positive feedback so I went with them.

If you know what style you like, you dont have to try a watch on first, I didnt with this one.
