Default 4 bloody hours!!!

Bloody toilet - The diaphragm went. Its a cheap piece of platic and designed so you have to take the top off the toilet before you can get to it - Also had to remove the wood which boxed it in and hacksaw the bloody bolts off.

Which tw*t designed these - It cant have been an an engineer - It is obviously the weakest part so why cant you get easy access to it from the top of the toilet without taking it to bits!!! I suspect it was a greedy plumber!!!!

Two screws and a rubber gasket could be used to provide a lid giving access from the top.

Nightmare.

You just saved yourself £400 by not calling out a plumber and you're complaining If the job was easy you would only have saved £25 !

They are a truly crap design (no pun originally intended, but now I think about it, quite good wasn't it? ). At the time you replace it it's best to spend another 10-20 quid on a different siphon arrangement that just unclips from the top, instead of the damn stupid "unbolt the entire cistern to replace the servicable part" design.

You didn't do that, did you? So you know what you have to look forward to next time....

I had the same job to do a few months back.

Replaced the who siphon arrangement with a much newer flap set-up. Much better design.

I had to do this job at work a while ago, thought it was going to be a nightmare, but just turned the diaphragm round and it worked a treat!!!!
Saved the boss (who incidentally turned out to be a complete w@nker) a fortune by not calling out a plumber!!! (My court case against him for negligence should cost him a bit tho!!!! ;-)
