You mean meat is dead animals and poultry!
Whoever would have thought that.
Nah, the supermarkets make it in factories.

Those that complained want to get the their head out of the sand and get a grip on reality...

but then I would say that coming from a farming background.

What do they think we do with them, sneak up and give them a lethal injection while they sleep FFS. lol

To be honest, I switched channels when they were slaughtered - that's not me trying to 'ignore' reality, and granted I'll eat the stuff, but I'd rather not see that.

That's why they had the warning before the programme. If you don't like it, you watch something else or turn the TV off I missed the programme, but it wouldn't have bothered me.

I missed the opening to the program, hence I missed the warning.

But yeah, it's not that hard to switch channels.

I am not a vegetarian but I am also an animal lover. As long as they are dispatched as quickly as possible and painlessly thats ok by me.

Bloody hell I thought they were smothered painlessly in their sleep after being given a sleeping draught by a team of qualified vets supported by members of the RSPCA and trained counsellors.

I am shocked and stunned and will not eat Turkey again until at least December 25th

before it went commercial here it was a case of grab em by the feet tuck em under your arm and then give a quick sharp tug and twist to the neck.
Making sure you hold on long enough for them to stop flapping or else you risk them running around breifly with thier heads dangling around their chests not nice.
not to mention claret everywhere

Used to kill the turkeys up at my aunties farm every Christmas.
Manuel euthanasia they didn't feel a thing
At least 100 turkeys, a dozen geese and a coupe of cockerels, quite a social event really.
and then back a couple of days later to draw them, its amazing what you used to be able to dump in the rubbish bin !!!!

Geese are the tricky ones, bloody strong necks.

The issue is that Ramsay probably only agreed to show the slaughter to increase the viewers of his show (No such thing as bad publicity and all that).

He should have killed them with a display of knife throwing - now that would be good entertainment !

far from likely - vegies and animal rights people love to see this stuff - because it will put people off meat. the ones who dont like it are those happy to eat meat but not see a turkey electrocuted on TV while they have have supper......which is fair enough.

I saw rick stein doing a piece on france, it was looking at foi gras,

he summed it up very well,

whilst people may find the method of production unpleaseant, they are happy to eat it, and it dosent hurt the birds,

was certianly an eye opener

i bet the people who complained have never seen the us forces teaching survival techniques with chickens!!!!

ffs how do they think the produce gets onto the table, do we breed skinless chickens fine cured hams??

as Les said, providing the method used is humane and efficient thats all that needs to happen.

whether you do it mechanically or manually, the end rersult is the same
