Default £100 CCJ - How bad?

Hi,

I obtained a copy of my credit report after having difficulty with obtaining a loan. I have a £100 CCJ from Feb this year from the DVLA regarding an unpaid SORN for a car I sold around that time. I did get a warning from the DVLA about the unpaid fine (but not the summons) but stupidly ignored/forgot about it as I had recently sold the car and had other things going on at that time!

Now i'm currently in the process of looking into getting the CCJ overturned but worst case scenario, how much is a satisfied £100 CCJ likely to affect my credit score?

I've got a feeling I know the answer but wanted other peoples experiences. Due to automatic computer scoring I think i'm severely crippled financially for the next 5+ yrs if I can't remove it from my, relatively good, rating otherwise

Very annoyed as it's not even a loan or credit agreement that i've not paid!

Thanks,

Gareth

Hi mate,

if you weren't served the papers you can ask for this CCJ to be set-aside It seems that you obviously didn't receive anything and this therefore means that you can have the judgement set aside.

When it's set aside it'll now show on any credit searches.

ALternatively, if you pay it within the initial 30 days of the judgement day you can ask for a certificate which you send to Experian/Equifax and they'll remove the judgement from your record.

Never heard of the DVLA issuing CCJ's !! Seem's strange !!

If you need any further help then please get in touch mate,

jai

I work for a mortgage company in the collections dept so know a little about this area. Even if you have'nt received the notification of the ccj it will still go on your file, the company issueing the ccj would of given you some form of notice usually in the form of a letter.
A ccj will normally stay on your file for 4 yrs however if the amount is paid off i.e £100 it will show as satisfied. Although this will still give you some problems its still better than just leaving it go.
If the ccj has recently been issued i beleive you can turn it around within 30days as stated above. Hope this helps a little.

A mate of mine is a personal loans underwriter. Sorry to say it, but he views CCJ's for small amounts as a major warning signal. If you've allowed a £100 debt to go to ccj level, then what chance have a loan company got of you paying them £100 a month? I know it's not true in your case, but that's what they'll be thinking.
