Angry Well, thanks a lot, Labour!

Yesterday: a report from Fat John Two Jags' office says that this town has the second worst deprived area in the country, (second only to Harringey, apparently), and the entire area is in the bottom 10% of the country for employment, earnings etc etc.

But TWO WEEKS ago, the local council, (Tory controlled ), received it's settlement towards the council tax for next year: one of the worst in the country, and will shove us right back up the council tax league
They have to make over £7 million savings, and that from a tiny unitary authority

Don't these fekkers talk to each other?

Proportional to average income, council tax is always going to highest in areas with high unemployment. £1k tax vs £10k ave. pay = 10% £1.5k tax vs £35k ave pay = 4.3%.

Of course the settlement Scunny receives doesn't reflect the political leanings of the administration........ I take it Labour got chucked out for similar reasons to those that got them chucked out of NE Lincs authority.

Yeah, I can see it as a percentage of income, but that's not what is usually quoted, just a flat rate, and ours is bl**dy high Three years ago, the band D rate was third highest in the country

Labour.........I RECKON they went because:
*They were arrogant, and not listening to the electorate, (Like Billy!).
*They had been in for some time.
*The Tories promised everyone a £40 council tax rebate.
*North Lincs is made up of rural seats and town seats, the rural outnumber the town seats by one. Guess what the majority is?
*The Tories also promised free travel for all kids on school/college journeys, and free carparking in a local market town.

So far, the Tories have reneged on the first two promises, but made carparking in the local market town free for the first two hours, and funded it by quadrupling the cost of parking in Scunny

Surely council tax is higher in areas of unemployment because all the unemployed benefit bods dont pay any council tax so all the working people have to pay more to make up the shortfall.

I don't think this is why: surely, benifits like that come from central government, and are given out AFTER council tax is calculated?

Where'd I say THAT was Labour's fault? The fault I was pointing at was in my first post: we are one of THE MOST deprived areas of the country, according to LABOUR, but LABOUR gave us ANOTHER crap council tax settlement. Whose fault is that?

Would you really expect that fat viciously inverted snob to actually listen to a Tory authority, or even less likely, give them a fairer settlement Alcazar?

Alcazar.
Not housing benefit - that comes from local councils. Poor people also means worse health, so more old people to look after. Poor people also tend to have more children, so more schools are needed - which local councils pay for. About 80% of most council's money (or more) goes on those three things.
