Talking The Titanic never sunk!!!

Well! thats what my mate reckoned a few years back. He said it was actually its sister ship the Olympic that sunk but they said Titanic as it sounded better! He claimed that the Titanic has been docked up for years!

So whos heard this one before!!!

Yeah this is an old conspiracy, but can be disproved.

From memory it wasnt to make it sound better, but actually something to do with the Titanic not being ready, so the Olympic was modded to look identical and rebadged. This was before it hit the iceberg and sank, not as a result of the disaster.

And where are all 3 sister ships now? In Davy Jones's locker

But yeah, Petem95, there was a prog on the Titanic / Olympic saga not so long ago and from the photo's of they cast reasonable doubt that it wasn't the Titanic moored up in Liverpool.

Yup as Pete says.

They alledgedly switched the ships when the Olymipc was being refitted.

However it has been disproved. The propellors etc all carry unique numbering on them and the Titanic did sink. Not really an issue anyway as the Olympic also sunk, as did the other sister ship the Brittanic

1 of them is wrapped in conspirosy theory and State secrets. her sinking is dubious, The Germans say she was carrying arms and gold, the government and MOD say it was carrying civillian refugees.

Pretty much disproved, but some elements seem very strange.
Why was the Californian ordered to a point in the middle of nowhere with only 1500 blankets & warm clothes as its cargo, unless there was a plan to sink one of the boats at a certain place in the ocean and provide provisions for the survivors. This also explains why there were not enough lifeboats on board, they never expected to use them as help would be on hand. However the plan failed when an unexpected iceburg struck far from the rendez vous spot leaving the passengers & crew stranded with no help.......so the theory goes....

one of the theoris is that the olympic caught fire and was damaged during the build process, so unable to use - so they switched names to do a massive insurance scam, loads of theories that prove and disprove this

one of the "other" theories was that the Olympic actually got hit on her maiden voyage by a HMS "summit". As her "back was broken", the ship was a write-off, and not insured as a result of the nature of the accident. This broken back made the ship very weak - hence was re-badged "Titanic".......

The other one was that the Titanic actually caught fire in Belfast - the fire was uncontrollable and this is what eventually aided in the demise. Also, all the engineering crew were off-loaded in the UK, and sworn to secrecy.

As they were with the 1st theory.............

Makes fascinating reading, although has pretty much been disproven........

Nope. Olympic was nick-names "Old reliable" Survived WW1 as a troop ship, returned to passanger service after the war and was eventually sold for scap in 1935.
