Titan make alloy steering racks for the likes of race cars, normally single seaters, but they also make offset ones for sports cars which could be suitable of the like of Caterfields.

Bump steer is when the steering angle of the wheel changes due to the raising & lowering of the suspension travel ie you turn the wheel say 5 degrees and as you move the wheel up and down on the suspension this changes to something different even the though the steering is held in the same position. This happens when the car roles, in cornering or hits a bump, hence bump steer, as it will change the direction of the car mid corner. Hope this makes sense. In order to correct this problem you have to get the geometry correct for the width of the steering rack, the length of the track rod arms and the height of the steering rack. This can be a right pain in the butt to set up and does not normally come in a box and requires the angles to checked and corrected through suspension travel.
