Default Unmarked Police Audi RS6 on M4 today!!

Seems like a bit much to spend on an unmarked car IMO! I seem to remember these costing the best part of 70 grand!

I can understand them using evo's and stuff unmarked, but surprised they can justify an RS6 when all youre always hearing about how underfunded the Police are...

We've had this argument before.

1) It's entirely possible that the police got it for nothing, as a test vehicle.

2) Even if they did pay for it, I doubt they paid more than half price.

3) Are you suggesting that high-speed pursuit should be done in diesel Astra or something?

4) What matters is not the sticker price, but how much the car costs over its life - it may well work out cheaper in the long term than other cars which cost less initially.

Might cost twice the price of an Evo to buy, but it's probably cheaper on the servicing

Mate, people on here will argue black is white for the sake of it.
As you imply manufacturers want the Police to use their cars. Look at the post T5 image compared to the old one

Unhappy

Nobody is saying the Poice cant have an RS6 just questioning if this is the most cost effective way of spending our money?

The Police budget comes from our Taxes surely we have a right to question how it is spent?

As to camera partnerships burning money when i said this to a camera operative at a Police PR stand in Kent he didnt have any thing to say in reply. Funny enough in my work with Local Authorites we see this for other departments that dont want to show big profits, they buy new expensive desks every couple of years or new top of the Range IT equipment every year or so, basicly living high on the hog!
