MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- A weapon was fired on an American Airlines plane as it was on the runway at Miami International Airport on Wednesday, authorities confirmed.
The weapon was apparently fired by a federal air marshal on board the plane, which was on a stopover during a flight from Medellin, Colombia, to Orlando, Florida, police said.
The Boeing 757 was due to take off for Orlando at 2:18 p.m. ET.

Remember the sky marshall was an American, so no doubt he'd been gagging to shoot someone since getting the job.
Probably some jumping looking muslim boarded the plane and the SM just couldnt resist taking him down!!

plane was parked up, people getting off, passenger said he had bomb in carry on luggage, was challenged by air marshalls ran down jetway to gate, reached into bag so they shot him.

An American Airlines passenger has been shot by an air marshal in Miami after claiming to have a bomb in a bag, it has been reported.
The shots were apparently fired as the passenger attempted to flee on a jetway leading off the plane in Miami.
According to Reuters news agency, a passenger was shot after doing something threatening - another news source said the passenger had claimed to have a bomb.
The shots were fired by a US air marshal - but this has not been confirmed by officials.
The jet had landed at Miami International Airport and is currently on the tarmac.
It is surrounded by heavily armed police and a stretcher has been removed from near the airliner.
According to reports, flight 924 had flown in from Medellin, Columbia - it had been heading for Orlando.
Defence and security expert Francis Tusa told Sky News that the presence of air marshals in the US was "boosted dramatically post 9/11".
He added that pilots do not always know an air marshal is on board a flight.

Wait and see what happens, certainly some similarities with a certain brazillian chap. So far there's no mention of the passenger having a gun or bomb about his person.
