Unbelieveable car theft story, not even I believe it...
But it is true.
A friend of mine has a Vectra GSI. Its been off the road for a bit, but its in good nick. He was just about to sell it when this happened on Saturday night.
Not the best picture in the world but what happened is someone nicked his entire front end. Headlights, Bumper, fogs, the lot.
Whats really astounding is not the fact that they did it, but the fact they managed to do it:
With him in his house at the time,
Without undoing the bonnet,
and with the front of the car no more than 18 inches from a brick wall!
Scumbag tea leafs should rot in hell, but even I have to grudgingly admit that for shameless brass necked arseholery and sheer determination, you have to give them some credit.

One of my mates had his motorbike stolen. He got up to go to work, unlocked the gates to his driveway, moved his dad's alarmed car, moved his mums alarmed car, unlocked the garage door to find his alarmed bike missing. You couldn't open the garage door without moving the cars and you couldn't move the cars without unlocking the gates. At first he thought he'd lost the plot and left it somewhere else! The police reckoned it was more common than you'd realise.

its improved the look of the front end though!!!
there are some "clever" thieves about as well as chav ones!!!
i remember in about 1980 when my dad had his stereo nicked from his ford mk IV cortina ghia, the thieves actually taped up the bare wires behind the unit, with insulation tape!!!
hope they get what they deserve AB.

I remember an incident a few years ago before a motorcycle event in the North East. Because people were worried that their competition bikes were an attractive proposition to thieves, they put about 10 motorbikes in one large van and then boxed it in with 6 other vehicles. They thought that would be enough to keep them safe overnight. Wrong, they broke in and moved all 6 vehicles to get at the van and nick all the bikes.

a mate had the front of his cossie stolen while it was parked around the corner at his place of work (kwick fit) this was during the day
not sure why they would nick a vectra gsi front end, you can get the carlton automotive replica front bumper which is a dam good copy for about £140 (this was a few years ago, im sure the price has came down)
the later spec headlights were about £80 a side when i had my old veccy

been a while scince i tinkerd with one
the bumper is very easy to pull away from the car if you just take the "skin" the slight damage caused to the side mounting points is easy fixed with glue and the standerd bumper mounts
i can rember paying about £250 for a second hand gsi mk2 front bumper when i had my car, this was well before they made the replicas, and i actually broke the side mounts while trying to fit it i used my standerd bumper mounts in the end IIRC
actually really liked that car tbh, would never have sold it if the rear arches did not rot away

We had a car stereo stolen once from our drive, they actually removed the front screen intact, and left it next to the car along with the tax disk and even the tape out of the head unit! seemed a lot of effort for a rubbish tape head unit - managed to get the orgininal windscreen refitted at least though

A friend of mine got up one morning, drew the curtains and looked down at his car. Being sleepy he wondered for a moment why he could see his car's engine, before realising his bonnet had been stolen in the night
