Default Best digibox (cheap)

Currently got a Philips DTR1500 and it's crap basically. It freezes regularly, whenever there's an update (more regular these days with new channels being added all the time) I have to 'reset' the box as I can only see the newly added channel :banghead: I follow all the instructions carefully so it's not me getting things wrong, it the crap box. I live in an area with decent signal (highish land in purley so selhurst aerial is close by and nearly a clear line of sight to it too!!)

So anyone know any good ones? Once that NEVER freeze. It also needs a good 'guide' so I can check all that's on all the channels on 1 screen with descriptions of the programs too. Most should do this simply and easily but most the manufacturers get this bit wrong.

any links to the dv3? can't find it anywhere.

I might add a note about the freezing. It's more a lock freeze where the screen just stops and starts again a few seconds (or minutes) later only to do the same again. My previous freeview box (an old nokia 'on' digital) used to mess up the screen but it wouldn't freeze lock but would make cracking noises when it was messing up.

Just a quick check from that add on you've just posted...does that picture freeze happen to be in time with sombody turning on a fluorescent light, fridge/freezer turning on, or the Central heating boiler firing up?

Often a problem on some boxes

Nope. Just does it intermittently, usually poorer in crappy weather.

My Sony one doesn't freeze... just lacks a card slot. Wasn't that cheap though, either.

Hello

I remember buying the phillips one. It was very bad for blocky pictures and interference from almost anything. Took it back after one day and bought a Sony Digital box. Not had anymore problems since.

Cheers

I had a cheapy one from Asda which fortunately packed up and they didn't have any more.

So with the refund I bought one of these for £50 from Comet

http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/172_212172.html

Much much better. Faster, better sound and picture

Still get the odd lock up, but no where near as many as I got with the Asda one. Switch off - switch on and its working again
