My sis has some rabbits which now live in the house, and they seem to love that - no way you'd get them back into a hutch now - they dont like the outdoors anymore as they'd get their feet wet or muddy!
Sounds like what you've done should keep them fairly cosy - lots of hay so they can tunnel into it should good, and also the quilt over the hutch sounds like a good bet.

Ahhhh, your dog is so cute
As for the rabbit, when I lived at home I had a outdoor rabbit, when the winter time arrived it was very cold, seeing as it was up north and the sea was behind our house, so we made a wooden frame the length and height of the hutch for across the front where the wire is and put a really thick clear plastic sheeting staple gunned round the frame and at a night time we would put it in place across the front of the hutch held up by the washing line pole, it sounds stupid, but it kept the cold directly out of the hutch, plus 2 be on the safe side I put a little hole through the plastic as I was terrified in case I suffocated the rabbit!

I used to have one in the house for a while. It was fine, but if you let it out then you will find little pea sized ***** everywhere for years to come. They seem to produce an endless quantity of crap out of their asses !

I used to bring mine and his hutch into the shed. The cold isnt really a problem as long as they have lots of hay to bury into(like someone already said). Its the bitter winds thats the problem. HTH

Winter care advice here http://www.petplanet.co.uk/petplanet...inter_care.htm
Rabbits do not like draughts, especially at night. If his hutch is outside, make sure it is fitted with a rain and wind proof cover for bad weather and night time. It should hang down over the front but it should allow a little air for ventilation. However, a rabbit will thrive with its hutch outside or in a garden shed, even in harsh conditions - no need to bring the hutch into the living room!
Bedding must be clean and dry at all times. Wet bedding could freeze!
Your rabbit's water should be kept free of ice at all times. Don't allow it to freeze.

At a summer birthday garden party a few years back someone filled the rabbits water bottle with stella. It wasnt noticed as the stuff in there was already yellow because of some vitamin/supplement thing.
