Off to Barcelona in Jan- anyone recommend a good hotel? The bird has said she would like to stay in the gothic quarter ( i think thats right) so somewhere around that, wherever it is.

2 minutes walk from the top of Las Ramblas.

Room was spotless, friendly staff too.

It doesn't really matter where you stop in Barcelona, the subway system is fantastic and cheap.

Wasn't fantastic or cheap for me as some theiving git had my wallet out of a zipped pocket in my shorts. Train was packed and hot, had no idea who did it. Since learned how bad Barcelona is for this so keep you valuables secure!

Oh and hotels stayed at the Mont Blanc which was okay, not far from Las Ramblas.

Have used several different hotels over the years in Barcelona. Stayed in the Ramblas the last couple of years, Hotel Monte Carlo and Hotel Royal both very nice 4* hotels. Going to the Christal Palace at Placa Catalunya in jan which is a reasonably priced 4*.

Have a look on www.superbreak.com they always seem pretty helpful.

i stayed in a hostel, £30 for the whole weekend, bargain!

you could even be a gent a let her have the top bunk!
