My management company are thieving scum. They want 35 quid for a spare communal front door key.

Does anyone know of a good locksmith in London (Soho area) that may be able to cut the kind of key most locksmiths say they can't do?

If it's anything like my place it's a locksmiths key you have. Should have a serial number and possibly the phone number of the locksmiths on it. Only the same locksmiths can cut them and you need permission from the management company to get a new one cut.

The process is there for your security.

That said there may be dodgy backstreet places that can do a copy for you. I didn't bother looking once I found out the normal places wouldn't cut them.

Had the same issue in my flat in Angel... tried 2 places, then went to one on caledonian road and they didnt even question it. That was for a communal front door key and 2x flat door locks (which i still have somewhere come to think of it )

We have the same problem that a flat owner had keys cut [though not through the proper channels]. Handed them out to friends and family.....they got lost and we got burgled [not our flat but a neighbours, only 8 flats]. Thief was caught and handed over the keys which amazingly had the address on the fob.

As Einstein once said [roughly] "There are two things that are infinite, the universe and human stupidity. I'm not so sure about the former". To say the flat owner got a telling off was an understatement [also think he got a fine]
