Question 2.6 Million on Incapacity Benefit - question?

Will they ever work again?

What employer would wish to employ the following? The reason that I'm asking is after reading an article in todays rag showing many people living it up abroad while claiming IB in the UK. Due mainly to lax rules and the benefit being automatically paid into bank accounts now.

Problems:

Will have long term health problems, 60%+ mental health, the new "bad back".

Probably de-skilled, lacking current industry experience, training.

Due to the high level of benefits, may not find the minimum wage enticing. Probably what many people will have to accept if they wish to re-enter the job market.

Will have access to many passport benefits which they will lose.

Will be used to the daily lives they have created for themselves while on IB.

May be deemed as scoungers and malingerers by both the general public and employers.

OK perhaps a few generalisations given above, but can this figure of 2.6 million be reversed? I say no.

It can be done, but it would involve mass poverty and maybe spark the odd riot

You can actually still claim and work ltd hour per weeks, and no more than £60 earnings.
Its a Governments incentive to get IB peeps back to work.
Unfortunatly the scroungers make it worse for the genuine cases like my wife
