Planning question (in-fill)

Planning question (in-fill)
Looking at the possibility of building a self build on some land of a relative but in order to do so we need to know if there is a minimum width for a drive (shared with relative) as we seem to think there is some rule on minimum widths??
Any ideas?
Edited to add:
Any views on the ease of getting in-fill through planning since Prescott changed things (for the better) - anyone with any experience?
The land in question was subject to 7 complaints when the relative put in a planning application years ago (prior to the change Prescott made).
???

Whether the applicaiton will be a goer and whether there are minimum widths for driveways will vary from Planning Authority to Planning Authority. Unless there is a development control planner on here from the area in question then nobody on SN can answer this one. You'll just have to call the duty planner tomorrow

Incidently most authorities are less interested in width and more interested in length If people bash their doors in your development that is their/your problem but if a driveway it too short it can be a road safety hazard.

if it's back-land development you're suggesting, then you'll need to find other info to support that
a friend of mine has been battling with the lpa for something similar in our area for a while now and is on his second appeal. whilst there are a number of sites with a recent consent in the locality following the same principles and at much higher densities, he is struggling.
distance from back edge of highway to proposed dwelling may be an issue (fire appliance access, refuse collection etc). the duty officer is the person to speak to. if you can't fit a formal driveway in, is is practical to put "parking" at the position where the driveway would start and then a "large footpath" to the proposed dwelling position?
