Default Another change to law!!! unchecked

once again tony and his looney party have made changes to law that have direct conflict with other established policy and law!!

A minor becomes an adult, at 18, and as such is capable of looking after themselves. without any input from parents.

not so if you pay them maintenance...

its carried on until they are 19!! if they are in full time education

so you now have to fund you alcohol fuelled adult whilst they are potentially earning there own income...

it gets worse...

if they decide to leave school at 16 during the summer (july) you have to pay untill september..

another 2 fingers from the party that dosent care

afaik i thought child maintenance was just that "Child" maintainence not adult mantainance... i dont object paying for him as a child, but why fund him as an adult..

its this ... dont worry we,ll give you money no matter what attitude that gets me..

hells bells i was earning my own way at 16, i didnt need, get or want any support from my parents ..

and why do you have to go on paying an adult.. when did this law change

Mart

another set of Nl values changed to suit themselves.

Hmmmmmmmm, OK, see your point, but: wouldn't you want to support your child if he/she fell on hard times?

All this does is make people that perhaps otherwise wouldn't, (the upcoming chav generation?) do so.

BTW: NOT all kids that don't work/go to college, do so of their own accord, you know

My kids dont have to ask for support from me, its always been there, and always will be..

it the way the govstapo now decree what constitutes an adult, and "you" will pay until we tell you to stop

Yes in your case, but that doesnt account for everyone else.

what if theyre finishing a college course or something ?? and wont be able to full time work till 19.

I agree with paul-s. I know of a girl who BADLY wanted to go to Uni, EASILY could have, but her parents refused to support her beyond 16 unless she went out to work

My missus worked for the Benefits Agency for many years and this was the case then - it is not something that Mr Blair has recently sneaked in,perhaps you have only become aware of it now because of your personal circumstances? it has been at least 10 years maybe longer that you have had to pay up to age 19 if in FTE,its basically for the same period that the parent with care gets Child Benefit (or whatever its called now).
