Just been sent an increasingly gruesome set of photos by email, of what looks like a "bathtub" spider, then someone with a bite on his thumb (holds two thumbs together), the thumb gets worse and worse throughout 4-5 photos, and is eventually a massive fully open wound with what looks like a long chrysalis/worm inside.
I'm assuming/ hoping!! that this is a photoshop hoax, and one of you will have seen it before. Does it ring any bells?
(PS, no it's not the camel spider. Ahh, where did that little fella go?)

Some venoms fall neatly into one category, others straddle two or more of the above. Nasty!!

I've had that email sent to me, surprisingly from the 'dinosaur SIAL' group - horrible pics

I've been bitten by what looked like a common garden spider. It stings like hell for a few minutes then swells up like a bee sting. An hour later all that was left were 2 tiny entry wounds.

There is only one species in the UK that I know of that can inflict a painful bite, and that's this little fella:

Seen those before - those pics are urgh!
Was lucky enough to have spent a couple of weeks in texas. Used to go for a smoke on the porch of the place I was staying at and rest up against a wall.
Anyway, a pest control guy came to fumigate the house one day and while I was talking to him he told me to stay inside for a moment. Next thing he's pulled out a lock-knife and stabbed something that was in a rut in the wall where I used to rest up against. He then pulls out the remains of a brown recluse and telling me how dangerous they are and how I REALLY wouldn't want to get bitten by one of these things.
