Default Football, crap, discuss.

Not the actual game itself, its a reasonable sport I suppose, its more the complete load of toss its turned into, Billionaires buy teams and its like playing Fifa Soccer with the cheat codes, players get paid millions, very few actually come from the areas (or even country) they play for, it costs a fortune to go and see a game live and its even expensive to watch on telly.

The United Supporters at work hate the City Supporters and vice versa, what is the point about getting all tribal about a business, to me nowadays, its like the Nokia owners falling out with the Motorola owners.

I can appreicate that football is a 'beautiful' game.

I just don't understand how worked up some people get over it. You see mates in tears after matches that ended in a defeat. If their team scores they jump out their chairs yelling and punching the air with their fists. I couldn't see them jumping out their chairs on hearing the news that a cure for cancer had been found or contact had been made with extraterrestrials etc.

It's a good game to watch, but where does this incredible passion come from, especially when it is all just driven by money these days?

I follow Brentford. Not much money in our league, not too many foreign players, not many great big stadiums either, but its great football at grass roots IMO. Blood, sweat, tears, punch ups, and old fashioned "real" supporters following their local teams.

I hope we never get to the premier league

Everything that is wrong with the UK is reflected in football...the fan's mentality, the politics, the teams, players, managers, clubs, owners/shareholders, FIFA, SKY tv rip off, ticket prices. I could go on.....

Don't like it, give me some decent motor racing anyday!

Footy is just a bunch of overpaid girls running round a park that cry as soon as someone tugs there shirt. And why do they have to show all the european games even when a UK team isn't playing?

Should be banned

Once again, not in the lower leagues IMO. Its real players playing real football. Its a bit messy sometimes, and your neck can get strained from watching the ball in the air too much, but its real passion from real supporters, and lots of local players playing for their local clubs

Which of course doesn't involve prima-donna participants, the money-talks attitude and ridiculous TV deals.

Can't beat the amature stuff or 5 a side for real carnage.

Big leaguers are girlies...rolling on the floor in screaming agony shouting "he touched me, he touched me"...pah!!! In my day the ref would have kicked him in the **** and would tell him to bugger off the pitch 'cos he's in the way

V5 Man, here here, Oldham supporter here who dispises the premiersh!t and everything it stands for....

League 1 all the way (until we're in the championship next season off course)

If you dont follow football and youve not watched it from a small age you'll never understand how much of a love you can grow for a club.

Whoa, was expecting a bit of a flaming but it seems that there is quite a lot of bad feeling towards the money-men/prima donna footballers out there.

Of course there is bad feeling towards said types, those who really care about the game from a grass roots level. The real game is played in the lower leagues and in amateur football, but the beautiful game is played by the Arsenal (and the like )

Even the lower leagues are run by money... its a sad situation really but personally I find more passion in the lower league supporters than with the glory hunting prem followers.

Yes, I support Scunny...........same league (division, really, ) as you. You beat us first game this year, but wait until you come to "Glanny".

Premiership? Waste of time. Apart from the top three, the other clubs struggle against the best in Europe. And it's supposed to be the strongest league in the world? Don't make me laugh. Richest, maybe

You can watch the game and love it but to really appreciate the game you have to play it. I love playing on a Saturday aft. for those 90 minutes nothing in my life or the world matters and I give it my all. You have to have played in a team sport to appreciate the bond you get with the other players as you are in it together.

As with all things there will be a bad side but you only have to see the joy the game brings to a bunch of kids in Africa. Brazil etc who have nothing yet give them a ball to kick and they will play all day long with a smile on their face.

It is a fantastic game and those that knock it do so because for the most part they where the kid picked last in the playground I suspect that goes for a lot of the scoobynet nerds

The reason I quit playing on a Sunday that and the fact as you get older it takes longer for the legs to recover. I don't miss being kicked by somebody who is still pi55ed from the night before

Edited to say: we tend to do well against the better teams thast let up play footy: Huddersfield, (won 4-1 away), Port Vale, (won 1-0), you lot etc.

Then we come up against the likes of Donny Rovers and MK Dons, both bottom when we played 'em, and we're clueless

Aha....the Mariners! Our old enemy.

To the tune of Ilkley moor:

"Oh Grimsby stinks of fish,
oh Grimsby stinks of fish,
oh Grimsby stinks of fiiiiiish............now fukc off"

Seriously, I was born there, and always look for their result second.
