Caning in schools....
to be banned in Taiwan. Maybe they should examine the UK "experiment" on this and see if they still want to ban it.

Don't bother. The cultural difference is so massive that you wouldn't come to any meaningful conclusions.
We had a presentation from a maths expert, who told us of the process of how to improve UK maths teaching. The first thing they did was to scour the world to find the country with the best maths teaching - Singapore. They were about to import Singapore's curriculum and teaching methods when they found that Singapore also had the world's highest teenage suicide rate. Erm... maybe not.
