Anyone know anything about camcorders?
Quite fancy getting a camcorder. We've been on about it for ages for the nippers birthday parties etc.
Seems digital camcorders are coming in about £200. Don't want to spend much more than that as it won't be used loads. Don't know anything about the DVD jobbies but they seem pretty expensive nowadays and its not hard to get the vid from DV cassette to DVD on a decent PC.
Cheers for any advice.

From my investigations, go for a tape based one, not a DVD based one. Anything over about 24x zoom is pretty much useless and is usually digital not optical, go for a good level of optical zoom.
Consider if you need digital in as well as out, can be useful for some editing tasks etc.
I went for a Panasonic NV-GS44 and am very pleased with it. Not sure if they still do that model.
