Question Pensions and rental properties?

Anyone know anything about the new Gov proposal to allow ppl to use a rental property as part of their pension scheme.

Chip its quite complicated and not so clear. This is probabaly not the best place for info. Try www.housepricecrash.co.uk , under main discussions there is a sticky named 'the SIPPS myth debunked'. Worth reading, lots of views

Good luck, I'm looking into it myself and am very confused!!

This has been so hyped up its unbelievable.

In short its only really worthwhile if you have a very big pension fund and are a higher rate tax payer.

Also remember this is likely to give the housing market (well 'cheaper' end of it) a short-term boost next spring (get ready to hear Halifax/Estate agents go into over-drive) as people blindly pour yet more money into property, but you can bet the smart investors wont be buying any then and will be waiting in the wings and buying up the reposessions in a few years time, probably with their SIPPS then.
