Default Paymentshield wouldn't cover my wheels being stolen :(

I had some 18" OZ Superlegs with brand new Toyo's in my garage and they got pinched while I was on holiday

Gutted as the replacement value is about £1700.

Rang Paymentshield and they said they won't cover vehicle accessories in the garage under contents insurance

Need to thoroughly look through the policy document but it may be worth people looking at their policy.

Would you put up with this? Sound normal? Can I challenge it?

Policies usually don't cover outbuildings such as garden sheds unless you specifically get them added to the policy. Is your garage detached or part of the house?

How did you pay for the wheels/tyres and when? It's possible you may have cover via credit card insurance.

It might be worth checking you car insurance policy. Mine covers car parts stored in the garage.

Fuzz, thats where mine are now Buggers...

Brit, garage is separate from my flat but is covered under contents. Got them from Ebay and paid by Capital One - will check that.

David, car ins wont cover them as they weren't on the car.

If the garage contents are covered by the contents insurance then the wheels are covered (unless specificly stated). If they turn it down, say they also nicked your £2000 lawn mower which was also in the garage. Get a new one off them and sell it.
