Tom Tom 5 on a Nokia 6600
As above really has anyone used Tom Tom 5 on a mobile with a blue tooth gps receiver. Thinking about getting one but dont know of anyone who has used this system. Does the gps connect easily and does it stay connected as I have heard the bluetooth sometimes drops the connection to the device.

yep works great no probs at all and my brother has the same set up on a newer nokia 6series not sure which model, we both got the gps receivers off ebay for about £45 and they work fine, can take a while to cold start if youve not used it for a few days, ie when it first trys to connect to satelites otherwise for the money you cant go too far wrong

Just got myself sorted using Tom Tom Mobile on an Orange SPV C500. It talks to a Bluetooth GPS aerial with a built in solar panel....even turns itself off when I take the phone with me outta the car.
Got a few issues with the software not saving home & favourites etc...but the hardware is working great.

You just need to get a mmc card say a 256mb with Tom Tom on. These go for about £30 on ebay. When you put the card in the phone you should get the tom tom icon appear with all your normal ones. Then you just need a bluetooth gps receiver. About £45 on ebay. Just enable the gps receiver and bluetooth on your phone then start tom tom and away you go. Ive tested mine last night and it works great. For about £75 its a dam site cheaper than the normal tom tom unit. I also got all the maps for Europe and America on dvd and also all the speed camera and points of intrest with mine. Finally got a suction windscreen mount off Ebay for £9 to hold the phone. Very happy with it. I would recommend.

Im at work mate and they have blocked us from using Ebay. I will have a look tonight. Its just a standard Bluetooth GPS receiver you need there a little rectangle box a bit smaller than a mobile. Should come with a charger.
Heres a link to some. I have the X50 one half way down and it works well. Gets a signal in about a minute.

have tom tom something 4.3? running on my orange spvc500 bought a sat receiver from www.expansys.co.uk and also a 2566mb memory card
works like a charm, I uploaded all the speed cameras, maccers, petrol stations etc etc
dont use it shed loads as I dont do that many miles, but its been a god sent a few times and nice to just plug in a postcode and get on the road rather than farting around with a map etc do it

Goto http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/uksafetycameras.php all the info to run and download the file on to your MMC card is there.
To make your GPS reciever work with your phone (N6600) Open TT5 on your phone, when that has opend press 1 to get the menu up. When the menu has opened press CANCEL which will take you to another set of menu's. Scroll down to option 5 PREFERENCES, then scroll right with the joystick3 times until you see SHOW GPS STATUS, click on that. Now click on CONFIGURE (bottom left) scroll to OTHER BLUETOOTH GPS and click select. Now your phone will PAIR with the GPS reciever make sure that it is switched on.
Easy peasy
Let me know if you need any more info, and yes the phone does tell you instuctions. Good bit of kit.

Take the mem card out of you Nokia and into your card reader. Download the files(there will be a few of them) look for the OV2 and BMP files then copy the OV2 and BMP files to your Storage Card into the Country Directory (e.g. \Great Britain) and enable them in the POI screen.
