Question Duty free cigarettes...

I have just had some maylasian duty free marlboro lights delivered and was a bit shocked to see on the side of the pack 20mg tar and only 1.5mg nicotine

Just wondering if there are any tobacco boffs on here that can help me understand the diiference to english ones ?

Marly lights are normally 0.6 tar and 0.7 nicotine (approx), why the vast difference between what I have got ?

They have white longer than usual filters on them, they smoke very smooth and I can tell very little difference. For those that have tried Salem's or any other strong american *** that have 19mg of tar these are nothing like.

Not sure why i'm bothered as all **** are bad for me but 20mg of tar per *** is a little scar

Anyone help ?

cheers

chop

P.s - Please don't post anything related to 'smoking is bad and you should stop' as I'm not interested and the thread isn't about that. Start your own thread ifyou want to debate that.

I dont know if there is any truth in it, but I heard that duty frees have even more ****e in them than regular UK duty paid ****, preservatives, that kind of thing. I never bothered with DF's as I always thought they made me feel worsre that normal cigs...I dont even bother with them now, just smoke rollies, a normal cig now makes me gag.

ps, smoking is bad for you, and you should stop

rollies are good, it's just adding rolling a *** on top of eating, drinking and chatting on your phone in the car is just a bit much.

Oh, just to add all tobacco will pretty much have the same tar and nicotine content, it's the filter that changes the levels. Malaysian filter technology obviously has a long way to go yet!!

The experts were saying that the tar content was not a significant factor in the danger consideration for cigarettes anyway!

There's meant to be alot of radiation in the fertilisers used, hence why lots of people die of cancer.

Thanks Leslie - I wasn't aware of that so have learnt something today...I seem to remember hearing at some point in the past that Tar is the 'transfer agent' but I just presumed it must be harmful.

Thanks for input
