Go for separates.Something like a Yam amp, Kef 2005,2 speakers and a good quality DVD player or even DVD recorder.

We have two set ups:

Kenwood Amp/Receiver
Denon Twin Tape Deck
Pioneer CD
JVC Record Deck
Whafedale Speakers

Kenwood Amp
Denon Receiver
Aiwa Single Tape Deck
Cambridge Audio CD
Mission Speakers

Both give very good, if differing sounds.

All have been bought from reading reviews in What Hi-Fi? and then hearing the equipment in store.

cant get the full system really, for a few reasons
a) My living room is quite small, and it seems pointless having 5/6 speakers for that
b) My dogs eat cables
c)My girlfriend also comes into the room and isnt keen on having speakers messing up the 'ambiance'
d)im very vain, and not very techie so i dont want the hassle of setting up loads of speakers

Ive been reading loads of reviews but im still to find anyone who has tried one
