NOTICE OF INTENDED PROSECUTION
Nice letter from Warwickshire Police received yesterday referring to a car I part exchanged at a dealer in December 2003!
Interestingly I saw the car advertised on Ebay last week..........
Good to see DVAL up to speed - not.

If you sent in your part of the 'logbook' showing the dealers details that should be sufficient proof - if the DVLA have lost it thats their problem!

Are you saying that the car you used to own is still driving on a cherished plate that is registered in your name and which you currently have on your own car (i.e. a cloned plate) or are you saying that the car has the correct plates on it but is still registered in your name? I'm confused.
Either way the government say they estimate that there are 130,000 vehicles driving around on cloned plates and that a third of all DVLA records are incorrect. Of course it is an offence for the DVLA records relating to you to be incorrect but if you did inform them that you sold the car then you sent the information to them and so no longer retain proof that you sent the information!! It is all a big catch 22 for the law abiding motorist while those driving illegally have little to fear.
