This Made Me Laugh !!
At a world brewing convention in the States, the CEOs of various
Brewing organizations retired to the bar at the end of each day's
conference.
Bruce, CEO of Fosters, shouted to the Barman: "In 'Strylya, we make
the best bladdy beer in the world, so pour me a Bladdy Fosters, mate."
Bob, CEO of Budweiser, calls out next: "In the States, we brew the
finest beers in the world, and I make the King of them all; gimme a
Bud."
Hans steps up next: "In Germany ve invented das beer, verdamt. Give
me ein Becks, ya ist Der real King of beers, danke."
Paddy, CEO of Guinness, steps forward "Barman, would ya give me a
doyet coke wid ice and lemon. Tanks."
The others stare at him in stunned silence, amazement written all
over their faces. Eventually Bruce asks, "Are you not going to have
a Guinness, Pat?"
Paddy replies: "Well, if you pansies aren't drinkin', then neither am I".

If Guinness was 10% abv and the others were 2% it would make a lot more sense.
Big thumb up for Guinness now that it's all coming over from Ireland though - totally different drink to what they used to concoct in London.

If the stuff we get over here in Perth is from Dublin then it doesn't travel too well
TBH although there's plenty of Irish ex-pats in this part of the world I don't think they drink enough of black stuff. Had a pint or 2 the other night in an Irish pub that reckons it sells the finest in town. It had a faint taste of vinegar, not good.
Quality of Guinness, IMO, is dependant, though not exclusively, on throughput. It seems that clean lines are not enough.
Got to agree though, Guinness in the UK has improved no end since it started coming from Dublin. My old local kept the lines clean and sold loads of the stuff (brewed in Dublin) - fantastic!
Did Guinness ever have a brewery in Liverpool? Or is my memory playing tricks?
